Claudelands is a multi-use arena capable of holding up to 6,000 spectators. The complex also houses a conference centre, and large indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces. Claudelands is the Waikato's premier entertainment venue.
The venue is often used for travelling shows, concerts and large expos like the Waikato Home Show. There is a rich history at the site has been home to large community events since the late 1800's. The original Claudelands Showgrounds was used for racing and the very first home show in 1984. Now the Waikato Home Show is the largest in New Zealand with over 12,000 visitors last year.
After a 4 year redevelopment program, Claudelands reopened in 2011. Redesigned and constructed from the ground up, the new buildings are sizeable and included over 9,000 new shrubs planted on the site. The modern design of the buildings were undertaken in conjunction with local Maori to incorporate local elements, making this buulding truly one of a kind. The grounds and buildings are simply stunning, and are a world class facility bringing many more shows to the Waikato.
As well as big events and entertainment the site is perfect for smaller corporate functions, product demonstrations and award shows. The facility is managed by the Hamilton City Council, and if the site isn't suitable for your particular event there are several other Hamilton facilities that events staff can present to you.
