Hamilton Bus Fares

Bus fares prices are quite reasonable. There are 3 types of fares: Cash, Explorer and Busit Card.

Cash Fare

Adults cash fares are $3.10 and Child fares are $2.10. There are no stages, each fare is one-way and gets you into the city, or to the suburbs. Fares are cash and must be paid to the driver. Children under 5 are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

City Explorer Fares

City Explorer fares allow unlimited travel within the Hamilton City Boundary for 24 hours (until 3.30am the following day). Most Hamilton city buses operate every half an hour. So if you are planning to travel to a few locations during the day then this is a great option. Adult Explorer fare is $7.50, and child is $5.50. If you will doing a simple two-way return trip then you are better to pay a fare each way, not get an explorer fare.

Busit Card

A concession card known as a BUSIT Card can be purchsed at discounted rates. The BUSIT card acts as a stored value card allowing you load credit on to the card. Saves you fumbling for change! The other benefit is that fares are reduced to $2.30 for adults and $1.60 for kids. You can top-up your BUSIT Card by paying the driver, or by eftpos at the Hamilton Transport Centre. More information on the BUSIT card can be found here

Hamilton Bus Depot

The Hamilton Transport Centre is the central hub for all services and is located in the Hamilton CBD, on the corner of Bryce and Angelsea Streets
