The Hamilton Night Markets are a new fixture in the Hamilton Things to Do calendar. Started in 2013, the markets are growing in popularity due to their appeal to all ages groups. The markets are free, but make sure you bring a lot of spending money. Food, Fashion, Toys and lots of interesting sights and smells to tempt the senses.
It's a great night out for the family, and the undercover carpark means it's an all weather event. The kids can experience food from other cultures, hear live music and watch performances. Buskers, magicians and dance troupes could be performing, depending on what's happening that week.
Food is the big component, where you can sample cuisine from dozens of different cultures. There are of course the ethnic favourites like Thai and Chinese. For those looking for something different there are some rare delicacies on offer from most regions of the world. We won't spoil the surprise.
Hamilton Night Markets is an expansion of the Auckland Night Markets concept which is going super well up in the big smoke. There are now markets running Thursday to Sunday across Auckland. It was only a matter of time before the fun spread down to Hamilton. The concept involves strict food licencing through local councils. Each food stall is licencedk, so hygiene and safe food is assured.
The atmosphere is alive with hundreds or people all meeting together to share food and family fun. Whether you are there to meet friends or our with the family, it's a great night out. The night markets are on every Saturday night, rain or shine, so it's a great back up plan to fall back on. 5pm - 11pm, bring cash, and bring an empty stomach :)
